The West Virginia Nurse's Defender
If you are reading this you most likely have received a West Virginia Registered Nurses Board Disciplinary Complaint. The one that came by certified mail. Unless the Complaint was filed anonymously it will identify the person who filed the Complaint against you - identified as the Complainant. And it will contain the Complainant's Statement of charges - which are the allegations that you did something wrong.
The Complaint letter also informed you that you are under investigation for possible violation(s) of West Virginia Code §30-7-11. Though this code reference gives you notice of the type of behavior the Nursing Board finds sanctionable, it is not specific to your charges.
The Complaint letter will demand that you execute an authorization so that the West Virginia Registered Nurses Board can obtain your [1] employment history and, [2] when warranted, your medical history. And you only have a very short amount of time to respond by giving the board your authorization and defending against the charges.
Just so you know, the West Virginia Registered Nurses Board provides a brochure about the disciplinary process. That brochure may imply if not state that you do not need a lawyer while you are under investigation. Really? You are under investigation with possible probation, suspension or license termination on the line.
